Practical guidance

Write page ranges accurately

Use the page position shown by your PDF viewer, not a printed page label that may restart in an appendix. A range such as 3-6 includes four pages. Separate selections with commas and avoid page numbers beyond the document total. Preview the source first when blank pages or cover sheets affect numbering.

Common ways to extract pages

Create a short client handout from a longer report, save one chapter for offline reading, separate an invoice from a monthly archive, or remove confidential appendices before sharing an approved section. The tool creates one new PDF from the entered sequence; it does not divide every page into separate downloads.

Privacy, compatibility, and review

The selected PDF is processed locally in the browser and the original is not modified. Encrypted, damaged, or unsupported files may fail to load. After downloading, check the page count and sequence, verify that rotated pages remain readable, and inspect links, forms, annotations, and signatures that matter to the document workflow.

Frequently asked questions

How do I enter page ranges?

Use individual pages and inclusive ranges separated by commas, such as 1-3, 5, 8-10.

Does splitting modify the original PDF?

No. The original file remains unchanged and the tool creates a new PDF containing the selected pages.

Why can a PDF fail to split?

Damaged, encrypted, or unsupported PDF structures can prevent the browser library from reading pages.
